Pictures of Edwina

We're collecting pictures of Edwina on this web site. I apologize for not having time to create smaller pictures for this page, but you will get a good quality picture if you choose to download! An especially beautiful picture of her alone came from Christel Opitz-Lüders. Although it's a side view, it might be good for web sites, etc. It's the last one.

Many of the first pictures are ones I took at the recent Michigan LLL Conference, April 2008. I haven't had time to put thumbnail pictures on this page, so you'll just have to open each one at the link, and save if you like. Janet Jendron

Some Leaders have uploaded pictures to other web sites. Please send me the link and I'll include it here or on the Memories page.

If you have a memory you'd like to share, please send them to me at jjendron@usit.net.

From Pete Froehlich, Edwina's son:

Friends,

The reporter from the Wall Street Journal, Steve Miller, did some research and found some precious early, early stuff about Edwina.

*A picture of her from 1939 (then known as Edwina Hearn) in the Chicago Tribune identifying her as the hostess for her Immaculata High School reunion.

*A Chicago Tribune notice from Oct 18th, 1957, announcing the lecture of Dr. Grantly Dick-Read at Leyden High School.  The Trib incorrectly refers to him as Dr. Grantly Dick-Rice.

*A 1959 Trib article about "The Womanly Art" mentions the 3332 Rose Street in Franklin Park as the League office.  That address is our childhood home, and is the location where the Froehlich boys were home-delivered by Dr. Gregory White.

*A 1963 Trib article refers to Mom as Mrs. John Froehlich, and talks about the long extension cord on the phone (I remember so well) that enabled her to move freely around the house while she was counseling a nursing mother.

WOW!  This is stuff I had never seen before, and I thought I had seen it all.  Goose-bumpy type stuff.

Note from Janet Jendron: Until I know I have permission to post these pictures, I'll hold on to them.
